Selecting the Abrasive Type for your Firearm
Select Aluminum Oxide for finer finishing, polishing and cleaning. The Silicon Carbide abrasive is effective for heavier work such as removing tool marks, oxidation and corrosion.

Selecting the Proper Grit for your Firearm
The lower the grit, the coarser and more aggressive the hone is. Final finish should always be done with 800 grit. A single grit may be all that is necessary if the surface is in good starting condition. For working on pitting, oxidation and corrosion you will want to use the 180 grit. Many gunsmiths need something between these two extremes. For this, we offer the 400 grit.
